Chug Chug
Had lots of problems trying to get the engine running properly. The
idle was fixed by stripping and cleaning the carb (finding the pilot
jet blocked), but then the engine would just backfire, spit back and
die under throttle once it warmed up. After rebuilding the carb twice
I eventually looked at the tappets, and found that the gap had closed
right up on several. Upon restarting I found that it would only run on
three cyclinders. Removing and cleaning the spark plug on the
offending cylinder did not work, but replacing it with an old one did.
So now she runs and drives, but still misfires until about 3000rpm. I
will replace the plugs and see if that helps, and start rebuilding the
weber carbs so that I can fit them as soon as practical.
