In Da Hood

Well after Helen got me some proper strong needles (thanks Helen!) I
completed the repairs to the hood. The front corners are re-inforced
and stitched up, and I also repaired some tears in the head lining. The hood has
now been fitted back on the car, and just needs a really good clean.
After realising that the section around the rear bodywork was not on straight (more so than it
originally seemed - the window was always crooked and is still a bit lop sided) I have
straightened it and it and the fit is not too bad - although i think it has
shrunk a bit since being removed as it seems tighter than before, and
the hood outer sides expose the frame. However I have discovered that there are
supposed to be tensioning cables running down the sides which have
never been there since I have had the car, which explains why the hood outer
used to flap in the wind at high speed when it was up! So I will be ordering a side cable kit and can then get
on with fitting the new frame seals.

I have started looking at the wiring, and unravelled the spaghetti in
the right general directions. That needs a good clean too (the engine
bay bits are especially gungy) to get rid of the grease and grime.
Apart from a few repairs where spades have broken off, I think it
looks in reasonable condition and I seem to have found where most bits
are supposed to go. Can't find the fuel pump still though so think it
will have to be a trip to ebay to source a Facet one.
